There is something weird about having a good business idea. There is so much excitement, but it is always accompanied by fear and doubt.
"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure", said Marianne Williamson. A statement I heard once while watching a movie, it resonated so much with me that I just can't forget this quote.
Often our fears are not that we think we cannot do it, but it is actually the fact that we wonder how did "I" come up with such a great idea. Am I really this smart? If this is "my" idea, then it is a bad idea because it is just too good to come from me.
As a creative person with so many ideas, I often have these feelings of doubt. I have lost many opportunities because I just thought there was no way such a good idea can be executed by me. This is terrible! It was only a few months back that I had an AHA! moment that I would like to share with entrepreneurs who struggle with this mentality.
I have a dream, a vision and a calling that is too big for me. I can see it in my head, and I know it is possible, but I just felt that I cannot do it because of its magnitude. But, one day while reading the book of Genesis, I read a passage that I have read many times but had never seen it that way before, the story is found in chapter 11 when the people were building the Tower of Babel:
"And the LORD said, “Indeed the people are one and they all have one language, and this is what they begin to do; now nothing that they propose to do will be withheld from them." Genesis 11:6 (NKJV)
Normally this verse is read to show what unity does, but I also noted that God said that now that they STARTED (they have begun to do this), nothing that they will propose with be withheld from them.
START! Your dream is so big, it needs a lot of people, a lot of resources or whatever the case might be, it is does not look achievable at the moment, but if you START, nothing that you propose to do will be withheld.
God being our Creator knows very well what is it that can inspire us to move forward. The success of one project gives you confidence to go to the second, the third, the fourth, and so forth. However, we often stuck at just the beginning, and normally the beginning of each dream is really not that hard.
Normally the beginning would be to send that email, to create that working space in your home, to change your daily routine, to seek advice from other people, to search on the internet, to reach out to the media, to buy that laptop, to buy that oven, to take those first pictures, etc, it is usually the bite size steps we need to take. Take those steps.
Once the first step is taken, go for the second, one, when you succeed, go to the third step. In a few years' time you will look back and wonder how you made it, the person that you could see in your mind and thought it could never be you, will be YOU! Why? Because you began the work and nothing was withheld from you going forward.
Kindly share below what your dreams are. As we take those steps, let's remember to pray for each other. And may all our ideas be aligned to God's will for our time and purpose.
